Kathmandu, April 5: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has appointed Vice President DP Aryal as the Acting President following the arrest of party President Rabi Lamichhane on Friday evening.

The decision was made during an emergency meeting of the party’s central secretariat. Lamichhane was taken into custody based on an order issued by the Tulsipur-Butwal Bench of the High Court in connection with an ongoing investigation into alleged financial irregularities involving cooperatives.

He was arrested from his residence in Hattigauda, Budhanilkantha on Friday evening.

Following the arrest, the RSP secretariat convened a meeting and expressed its commitment to respecting the court’s decision. The party also reaffirmed its dedication to seeking justice within the framework of the Constitution and prevailing laws.
