Prachanda Urges Government to Address Teachers' Demands Promptly

Kathmandu, March 15: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has emphasized the need for the government to address the demands of agitating teachers without delay.

During a meeting with a delegation from the Nepal Teachers' Federation in Kathmandu today, Dahal said that the legitimate concerns of the teachers must not be ignored. The Federation is currently staging protests, demanding the immediate endorsement of the School Education Bill by Parliament.

“Although numerous amendment proposals have been registered, many of them are similar in nature. A sub-committee could be formed to expedite the bill’s passage. What’s needed most is political will,” Dahal remarked. He further stressed that the government should prioritize education and the concerns of teachers.

Noting the lack of unified understanding on teachers’ demands and broader education reforms, the Maoist Centre Chair and former Prime Minister called on the government to act seriously, stating that education is the foundation for the nation’s development and prosperity.

Dahal also reiterated his party's commitment to playing a proactive role in ensuring the passage of the bill, according to his private secretariat.
