Kathmandu, March 15: A man died in a road accident early this morning near the Gairigaun Petrol Pump in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-32, Tinkune.

The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Sukram Tamang, originally from Panauti Municipality-11 in Kavrepalanchowk, and currently residing in Dhapakhel, Lalitpur, according to Apil Raj Bohara, spokesperson for the District Police Range, Kathmandu.

The accident occurred at around 4:30 am when a tipper truck (Ra 1 Kha 2622) struck a motorcycle (Pra 2-02-003 Pa 6245). Tamang was rushed to the Trauma Centre but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Ramesh Tamang, a pillion rider from Bethanchowk in Kavre, was also injured in the incident and is currently undergoing treatment at the Trauma Centre.

Police have impounded the tipper truck from the cargo complex at Tribhuvan International Airport. However, the driver is currently at large.
