Maoist Centre Committed to Identity and Rights: Chair Dahal

Kathmandu, Feb 21: Chairman of CPN (Maoist Centre) and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' reaffirmed his party’s commitment to safeguarding identity and rights of marginalized communities. Inaugurating the national meeting of the Tamu National Liberation Front Nepal in Pokhara on Friday, Dahal recalled the diverse views on identity during the constitution’s drafting and promulgation process.
“Our party has never neglected the issues of identity and rights,” Dahal said, vowing to continue advocating for marginalized castes and communities.
He also announced that the Maoist Centre would contest the upcoming general elections independently, without forming any electoral alliances.
Addressing the need for political stability, Dahal suggested that directly electing the executive head could enhance governance. He hinted that constitutional amendments to revise the electoral system could be considered for this purpose.
Former Speaker and party standing committee member Onsari Gharti Magar, speaking at the same event, credited the Maoist movement for securing rights for the country’s oppressed castes and communities.
