Nepal Marks 75 Years of Democracy with Nationwide Celebrations

Kathmandu, Feb 19: Nepal is celebrating the 75th National Democracy Day today with various programs taking place across the country.
President Ramchandra Paudel is set to attend the official event organized by the Main Celebration Committee at Sainik Munch, Tundikhel, this morning. The occasion will honor the known and unknown martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the struggle to establish democracy in Nepal.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to deliver an address during the celebrations. To mark the significance of the day, the government has declared a public holiday nationwide.
The 7th of Falgun, 2007 BS (February 19, 1951), holds historical importance in Nepal as the day the autocratic Rana regime was overthrown, ushering in a new era of democracy.
In his message of best wishes, President Paudel highlighted the belief that "sovereignty should rest with the people," a principle that was realized through the sacrifices of the nation's martyrs.
