CIAA Marks 34th Establishment Day

Kathmandu, Feb 10: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), established to combat corruption, marks its 34th anniversary today.
The occasion is being observed at the CIAA’s headquarters in Tangal with special programs focused on promoting good governance.
CIAA Secretary Ghanshyam Upadhyay shared that President Ramchandra Paudel has been invited as the chief guest for the event.
The Commission, a constitutional body, was formed with the mandate to combat corruption in all forms. Empowered by Article 239 of the Constitution, it investigates the misuse of authority by public officials and prosecutes those found guilty of corrupt practices.
In line with its constitutional responsibilities, the CIAA has adopted strategies encompassing punitive measures, prevention, promotional activities, and institutional capacity building to tackle corruption.
According to its 34th annual report, the Commission resolved 27,714 of the 36,186 complaints received, including 26,918 cases registered during the fiscal year 2080/81 and 9,268 carried over from the previous fiscal year.
The CIAA remains committed to its mission of fostering transparency and accountability in governance.
