Fulfilling Aspirations for Development and Prosperity is a True Tribute to Martyrs: President

Kathmandu, Jan 29: President Ram Chandra Paudel emphasized that the most meaningful tribute to martyrs is to advance the nation's journey towards development and prosperity.

In his message on the occasion of Martyrs' Day, the Head of State remarked that genuine homage to martyrs involves working relentlessly to achieve sustainable peace, good governance, development, and prosperity through the federal democratic republican system — a hard-earned achievement made possible by their sacrifices.

He expressed hope that Martyrs' Day would inspire all citizens to actively fulfill their roles in realizing the dreams of the martyrs while honoring their noble sacrifices.

"On this solemn occasion of Martyrs' Day, 2081 BS, I extend my heartfelt tributes to all known and unknown martyrs, including the great pioneers Shukraraj Shastri, Dharma Bhakta Mathema, Dashrath Chand, and Gangalal Shrestha, who sacrificed their lives for civic freedom, democracy, and national sovereignty," President Paudel said.

He noted that Martyrs' Day is a time to remember and honor the brave individuals who laid down their lives to establish democracy and liberate the Nepali people.

Observed annually on Magh 16, the day commemorates the sacrifices made by those who fought against the Rana regime, the Panchayat system, and the monarchy, empowering the Nepali people to become sovereign citizens.

"Martyrdom is the ultimate act of devotion to one's country and people. May this day inspire all political parties, citizens, and stakeholders to commit wholeheartedly to fulfilling the aspirations of these heroes who died for national independence and freedom," he added.

Vice President's Message

Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav also paid tribute to the martyrs, emphasizing their courage as a guiding force for building a prosperous and inclusive nation.

In his message, Vice President Yadav highlighted that the bravery of martyrs serves as an inspiration to establish a socially and economically strong, self-reliant, and developed country.

He acknowledged their contributions in securing the nation's independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and inclusiveness while striving to eliminate discrimination and establish a federal democratic republic.

On this occasion, the Vice President urged all citizens to work collectively for the nation's development and prosperity, reinforcing unity by upholding the ideals and values championed by the martyrs.
