Nepal-China Conduct Joint Border Monitoring in Humla

Simikot (Humla), Jan 26: Security personnel from Nepal and China have carried out a joint monitoring of the northern border area in and around Humla. The monitoring focused on the border crossing in Hilsa, Namkha Rural Municipality-5, and took place on Saturday.

According to Armed Police Force (APF) Inspector Krishna Bahadur Ojha, who leads the APF Border Security Post in Hilsa, the joint monitoring covered the border and border posts in Hilsa, as per an agreement between the security forces of the two countries. The main objective was to prevent any untoward incidents at the border, assess the condition of border posts, and enhance coordination between the security teams.

The monitoring team consisted of Chinese security personnel, along with members of the Armed Police Force and District Police from Nepal.

In addition, Nepali security forces have been patrolling areas from Hilsa to Nara and Limi. The Armed Police Force has been responsible for border security since the establishment of the Hilsa transit point in 2077 BS.

Deputy Superintendent of the Armed Police Force, Devraj Rai, emphasized that despite heavy snowfall during the winter in northern Namkha, which hinders movement in Yari and Hilsa, the Armed Police Force maintains a year-round presence to ensure border security.
