NDRRMA Urges Precaution Against Cold Weather
Kathmandu, Dec 27: The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has issued a warning, urging people to take necessary precautions against cold weather. The advisory follows a forecast by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology predicting cloudy conditions starting this afternoon.
NDRRMA spokesperson Dijan Bhattarai emphasized the need for caution as intensifying cold and cold waves could lead to health complications. He highlighted forecasts of snowfall in the high hilly and mountainous regions, rainfall in various areas, and cold waves across the Tarai region.
The Meteorological Forecasting Division, in a special weather bulletin issued today, noted that a Westerly low-pressure system is expected to cause partly to generally cloudy conditions in many parts of the country starting this afternoon.
The forecast predicts light to moderate snowfall across most high hilly and mountainous areas in Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces. Additionally, some high-altitude regions in Gandaki, Bagmati, and Koshi provinces are likely to experience snowfall on Saturday.
The NDRRMA has advised citizens, particularly those in vulnerable regions, to stay prepared and protect themselves from the adverse effects of cold weather.
