Sichuan Airlines Chartered Flight Lands in Pokhara

Pokhara, Dec 26: A chartered Sichuan Airlines flight carrying 126 passengers from Chengdu has landed at Pokhara International Airport. The passengers, part of a Chinese delegation, have arrived to participate in the Second International Dragon Boat Race, scheduled to take place at Fewa Lake on December 29 and 30 to mark the New Year 2025.

The event is being jointly organized by Pokhara Metropolitan City, the Embassy of China, and the Dragon Boat Association. Notably, the Dragon Boat Festival was first introduced in Nepal in 2023 through China’s initiative.

January 1, 2025 (the 17th of the Nepali month Push), will mark the second anniversary of Pokhara International Airport’s inauguration. However, regular international flights are yet to commence from the airport. Intermittent chartered flights, like this one, have provided hope for greater international connectivity, according to the Airport Office.

This marks the third chartered flight operated by Sichuan Airlines to Pokhara. Previously, seven chartered flights from China, Bhutan, and India, as well as three other international flights, have utilized the airport.
