Health Ministry Hosts Conclave to Strengthen Healthcare in Nepal
Kathmandu, Dec 26: The Ministry of Health and Population is organizing the Nepal Health Conclave in the capital on December 26–27 to enhance the country's healthcare system and services.
According to the Ministry, the two-day event aims to leverage the expertise, skills, and resources of Nepali diaspora health professionals alongside local healthcare and public health workers.
“The Nepal Health Conclave 2024 seeks to bridge the gap between global expertise and national healthcare needs by fostering collaboration between Nepali diaspora health professionals and national stakeholders,” the Ministry stated.
The conclave, held under the slogan “Connecting Diaspora for Healthcare Strengthening,” has attracted 1,000 participants from 90 countries. Of these, 300 will attend in person, while 700 will participate virtually, according to Ministry Spokesperson Dr. Prakash Budhathoki.
The Ministry expressed confidence that the event would facilitate the exchange of knowledge and technology between the Nepali medical diaspora and local healthcare providers.
Dr. Budhathoki highlighted that the conclave is focused on promoting partnerships for research, innovation, and training while laying the groundwork for long-term healthcare policy and strategic collaboration.
Key themes of the conference include global practices in diaspora engagement, advancements in e-health and healthcare technology, policy dialogue, and fostering long-term partnerships for research, education, and innovation.
Additionally, the conclave is expected to contribute to the development of the Nepal Medical Diaspora Engagement Framework. “The outcomes of this conference will guide the formulation of actionable policies and strategies for sustained collaboration between local and international healthcare professionals, ultimately strengthening Nepal’s healthcare system,” Dr. Budhathoki added.
