Weather Update: Westerly Winds to Bring Cloudy Skies, Rain, and Snowfall in Nepal
Today's weather will be partly cloudy in Koshi Province and the hilly regions of Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces, while the rest of the country is expected to remain mostly clear, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division.
Light rain may occur in one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi Province due to the partial influence of westerly winds currently affecting the country.
Starting Sunday evening, a westerly low-pressure system (Western Disturbance) is predicted to bring partially to generally cloudy skies to many parts of Nepal. This system is expected to cause light to moderate snowfall in several high-hill and mountainous areas of Sudurpaschim and Karnali Provinces, as well as in some areas of Gandaki, Bagmati, and Koshi Provinces, from Sunday evening through Monday.
Additionally, light to moderate rain is likely in parts of Sudurpaschim, Karnali, and Lumbini Provinces, with light rain in a few locations of Gandaki and in one or two hilly areas of Bagmati and Koshi Provinces.
The Division's special winter weather bulletin also warns of a temperature drop across the country, leading to an increase in cold conditions. Residents are advised to prepare accordingly.
