Sultan of Oman to Hold High-Level Talks with Putin in Moscow

The Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq, is set to arrive in Moscow on Monday for a two-day state visit at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, both Muscat and the Kremlin confirmed on Saturday.
According to the Kremlin, the leaders will meet on Tuesday to discuss pressing international and regional issues, along with deepening bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade, economy, finance, and investment.
In a statement, the Omani royal court said the visit aims to strengthen diplomatic ties between the Sultanate of Oman and the Russian Federation in line with the aspirations of both nations.
“The leaders will review areas of cooperation across various sectors and explore ways to enhance them in the interest of both countries,” the statement read.
The visit comes as Oman continues its role as a key mediator in sensitive regional diplomacy. Just this past Saturday, the Gulf nation facilitated fresh nuclear talks between the United States and Iran in Rome — a follow-up to an earlier round of discussions that were described by both sides as “constructive.”
