Myanmar Earthquake Death Toll Surpasses 3,000, Says Junta

The death toll from Myanmar’s devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake has risen to 3,085, the country’s ruling junta announced on Thursday.

According to a statement from junta spokesperson Zaw Min Tun, 341 people remain missing, while the number of injured has climbed to 4,715—six days after the powerful quake struck.

International aid efforts are underway, with rescue teams and relief workers from 17 countries assisting in search and recovery operations. Nearly 1,000 tonnes of emergency supplies have been delivered to affected areas, the spokesperson added.

“We continue our search and rescue efforts and express deep gratitude to the international community and medical teams for their dedicated support,” Zaw Min Tun said.
