Sri Lankan authorities have issued landslide and flood warnings as heavy rainfall continues to impact multiple districts and provinces.

The National Building and Research Organization (NBRO) has issued landslide warnings for the districts of Badulla, Kandy, Kurunegala, and Matale, which will remain in effect until Monday morning.

Meanwhile, the Irrigation Department has warned of potential flooding in low-lying areas of the Eastern and North Central provinces, particularly in the Mahaweli river basin. This warning is valid until Tuesday morning due to ongoing heavy rainfall in the river’s catchment areas.

According to the Meteorological Department, the northeast monsoon is currently active, with rains expected to persist over the coming days.
