Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai to Attend Girls' Education Summit in Pakistan
Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai is set to visit her native Pakistan to attend a summit on girls' education. The event, hosted in Islamabad, will bring together Muslim leaders from across the globe to address critical issues surrounding education for girls in Muslim communities.
Yousafzai, who survived an assassination attempt by the Pakistan Taliban in 2012 for her advocacy for girls’ education, has made only a few trips back to Pakistan since her evacuation.
"I am excited to join Muslim leaders from around the world for a critical conference on girls' education," Malala shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday. "On Sunday, I will speak about protecting the rights of all girls to go to school and why leaders must hold the Taliban accountable for their crimes against Afghan women and girls."
The Malala Fund, her charity organization, confirmed that she will attend the two-day summit in person. The event, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, aims to address the challenges faced by girls in accessing education, particularly in Muslim-majority region.
