Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep condolences on the demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, describing it as a monumental loss for India.

In a heartfelt post on X, PM Modi shared his thoughts with Dr. Singh’s family, friends, and admirers. "India mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished leaders, Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji. Rising from humble beginnings, he became a globally respected economist. As Finance Minister, he shaped India's economic trajectory, and as Prime Minister, he worked tirelessly to uplift people's lives," he wrote.

PM Modi reflected on his interactions with Dr. Singh during his tenure as Gujarat's Chief Minister. "We frequently discussed governance and policy issues. His wisdom and humility were always evident. In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with his family and countless admirers. Om Shanti," he added.

Dr. Manmohan Singh, aged 92, passed away on Thursday night due to age-related health issues, as confirmed by AIIMS.

Tributes Across the Political Spectrum

BJP President JP Nadda called Dr. Singh's passing is an irreplaceable loss for the nation. "A visionary statesman and a champion for the underprivileged, his legacy will continue to inspire generations in their pursuit of nation-building," he said, offering condolences to the family.

AAP MP Raghav Chadha also paid tribute, lauding Dr. Singh's contributions as the architect of India’s economic liberalization in 1991. "He steered India through challenging times with intellect and integrity, transforming the nation and inspiring future leaders. I am privileged to have worked with him in the Rajya Sabha," Chadha said.

Legacy of a Distinguished Leader

Dr. Manmohan Singh was born in Punjab in 1932 and served as Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014, following Congress' victory in the 2004 general elections. An Oxford-educated economist, he played a pivotal role in introducing economic reforms that reshaped India's growth trajectory.

After 33 years in the Rajya Sabha, Dr. Singh retired earlier this year, leaving behind an enduring legacy of transformative leadership. His contributions as an economist, parliamentarian, and Prime Minister will continue to inspire generations.

India mourns the loss of this visionary leader whose intellect, integrity, and dedication shaped the nation.
