BJP's Maharashtra Manifesto Promises $1 Trillion Economy, Women Welfare, and Major Reforms
The party’s goal is to create 50 lakh women Lakhpati didis (women earning a substantial income) by 2027, backed by a Rs 1,000 crore revolving fund for entrepreneurial support.
In a bold bid to secure a second term in power, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday launched its manifesto for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections, promising a range of sweeping reforms aimed at transforming the state into a $1 trillion economy by 2028.
The manifesto, unveiled by senior BJP leaders including Amit Shah in Mumbai, outlined 25 key initiatives that span economic growth, social welfare, and infrastructural development.
Economic Growth and Vision 2028
A central promise of the manifesto is the ambitious target of a $1 trillion economy for Maharashtra by 2028. The BJP plans to achieve this by boosting investments in high-growth sectors, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), fintech, and aerospace.
Cities like Nagpur, Pune, and Nashik are slated to become key hubs for aerospace industries, while the party intends to position Maharashtra as a leader in fintech and AI, with plans to introduce AI training programs through Atal Tinkering Labs and the Marathi language.
Focus on Women Welfare and Social Security
In a major focus on women’s empowerment, the BJP promises Rs 2,100 per month to women, totaling Rs 25,200 annually. This program aims to economically uplift women across the state.
The party’s goal is to create 50 lakh women Lakhpati didis (women earning a substantial income) by 2027, backed by a Rs 1,000 crore revolving fund for entrepreneurial support.
The manifesto also includes a commitment to improve elderly care, with the BJP promising to increase pensions for senior citizens from Rs 21,500 to Rs 82,100 annually.
Support for Farmers and Food Security
For the farming community, the BJP promises a loan waiver of up to Rs 15,000 per farmer, as well as a 20% subsidy on Minimum Support Prices (MSP). The party aims to stabilize the prices of essential commodities and reduce electricity bills. Furthermore, the Akshya Anna Yojana will provide free food grains to low-income families across Maharashtra.
Education, Healthcare, and Rural Development
The BJP has also pledged comprehensive reforms in education and healthcare. For students from marginalized communities—such as Other Backwards Classes, Economically Weaker Sections, and Nomadic Tribes—the manifesto promises tuition and examination fee reimbursement and Rs 10,000 for educational support. The party aims to create 25 lakh new jobs and has promised interest-free loans of up to Rs 15 lakh for entrepreneurs.
For healthcare, the Vivekananda Youth Health Card will be introduced to provide young people with annual check-ups. Additionally, the party plans to introduce an Aadhar-enabled policy for senior citizens to streamline healthcare access and establish dedicated Out Patient Departments (OPDs) for the elderly.
In terms of rural development, the BJP promises the construction of roads in 45,000 villages across Maharashtra, aiming to enhance connectivity and improve access to essential services in remote areas.
Cultural and Religious Commitments
The manifesto also touches upon cultural and religious reforms, including a promise to introduce an anti-conversion law to preserve Maharashtra's religious and cultural fabric. The BJP has pledged to focus on the preservation of forts and historical heritage, aligning with its vision of strengthening Maharashtra's cultural identity.
Infrastructural Investments and Job Creation
To further fuel economic growth, the BJP promises significant investments in infrastructure, including the construction of new highways, bridges, and industrial corridors. The party plans to introduce the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Aspiration Centre in every district, aimed at fostering entrepreneurship and skill development. Additionally, the BJP will conduct a state-wide skill census to identify and train potential workers for emerging sectors.
The BJP’s manifesto for Maharashtra seeks to offer a comprehensive approach to governance, combining economic development with social security measures. By focusing on key sectors such as AI, fintech, women’s welfare, and rural infrastructure, the BJP aims to set Maharashtra on a path toward becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2028 while addressing immediate concerns of food security, healthcare, and job creation.
