APF Nepal's BOP to be set up at Phu village in Manang

A Border Outpost (BOP) is set to be established at the Nepal-China border in Manang district. According to the District Administration Office, the outpost will be located in Phu village, Narpabhumi Rural Municipality-4, to manage and monitor the border transit point.
Situated at an altitude of approximately 4,000 meters above sea level, the BOP aims to enhance border security and facilitate safe movement in the area. Chief District Officer (CDO) Matrika Acharya stated that 20 ropanis of land have been allocated on long-term lease to the Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal for the construction of the outpost.
“Phu is a remote region of Manang with no road access. The BOP is expected to strengthen border surveillance, prevent transnational crime, and improve overall security,” said CDO Acharya.
A contingent of 35 armed police personnel, including a police inspector, will be deployed at the BOP.
The outpost will be established in coordination with Narpabhumi Rural Municipality as soon as possible. CDO Acharya also expressed hope that the presence of the BOP would contribute to peace and security, support disaster response efforts, and assist in the rescue of tourists affected by high-altitude sickness.
Narpabhumi Rural Municipality shares a border with the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. Reaching Phu village from the district headquarters in Chame requires a two-day trek on foot.
