PM Oli Highlights Government's Efforts in Employment, Investment, and National Development

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has reaffirmed the government's commitment to legal and institutional reforms aimed at fostering employment and attracting investments. Addressing the House of Representatives, he emphasized prioritizing programs that boost production, productivity, and job creation.
PM Oli highlighted the concessional loan program, which offers up to Rs 2.5 million to startup enterprises. This initiative aims to create employment opportunities, with 1,000 individuals set to benefit in the current fiscal year.
He warned of legal action against individuals involved in the illegal misuse of foreign currency under the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act, 2021 BS. However, he assured that investment exchange in the IT sector is being facilitated to promote innovation.
Discussing education reforms, the Prime Minister mentioned that free and compulsory education up to the basic level is already in place, with the possibility of free university education in the future, subject to available resources.
On property rights, he referenced Article 25 of Nepal’s Constitution, which ensures citizens' right to property under legal provisions, including land ceilings and a progressive tax system.
PM Oli made it clear that capital punishment cannot be imposed for corruption offenses due to Article 16 of Nepal’s Constitution and Nepal’s commitment to the Second Optional Protocol of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
The Prime Minister assured that the government is serious about completing national pride projects like the Sikta and Babai Irrigation Projects on time. He revealed that Rs 22.43 billion has already been paid toward outstanding project liabilities.
To enhance project efficiency, the government has introduced a strategic planning model in consultation with the National Planning Commission and relevant ministries. PM Oli emphasized that he is personally monitoring these projects through the ‘Action Room’ at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers to ensure their timely completion.
Reaffirming his government’s vision of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali,’ PM Oli stated that various social security programs are in place to promote equitable development and a socialist-oriented economy. The Social Security Fund has been strengthened as a key mechanism for economic security.
The government remains dedicated to high economic growth, fair distribution of resources, and inclusive development, ensuring a self-reliant and prosperous Nepal.
