Former Finance Minister Pun Calls for Increased Investment in Job-Creating Sectors
Former Finance Minister and CPN (Maoist Centre) Deputy General Secretary, Barsha Man Pun, has emphasized the need for greater investment in employment-generating sectors to address the rising issue of joblessness in the country.
Speaking at a colloquium organized by the CPN (Maoist Centre) Baglung Town Committee on Sunday, Pun expressed concern over the growing trend of investments being directed toward unproductive sectors, which has significantly reduced domestic employment opportunities.
"The continuous outflow of youths to foreign countries for employment must be addressed by creating sufficient job opportunities within the country," Pun said. He stressed that curbing brain drain is critical to ensuring the nation's economic growth and retaining skilled manpower.
Highlighting the need for systemic reform, Pun called for changes in the leadership structure, improvements in party organization, and reforms in the democratic system to make it more effective and people-centered.
On the occasion, the senior Maoist leader also reflected on his party’s contributions to the country's "epoch-making political changes," underscoring their role in shaping Nepal's current political landscape.
