First Snowfall of the Year in Humla Brings Joy to Farmers
Humla district witnessed its first snowfall of the year, beginning last night following a change in weather conditions on Sunday evening.
By Monday morning, the district headquarters, Simkot, was blanketed with three inches of snow, while higher-altitude areas like Limi in northern Namkha Rural Municipality reported up to a foot of snowfall, according to Log Bohara, a staff member at the Limi Health Post.
Farmers in the region are delighted, as they believe the snowfall, albeit delayed, will enhance weather conditions and benefit crops like wheat, barley, and rice.
However, the snowfall has disrupted daily life in several areas, including Simkot, Chala, Limi, Hilsa, and Yari, as temperatures have plummeted below freezing.
While the cold snap poses challenges, it is seen as a boon for the agricultural cycle, with hopes that it will mark the start of a favorable season for farming.
