Israeli Airstrikes Kill Four Palestinians in Gaza Amid Rising Tensions

At least four Palestinians were killed in Israeli military operations across the Gaza Strip on Sunday, according to Palestinian health authorities and medical sources.

In the northern town of Beit Hanoun, two Palestinians were killed when an Israeli military drone targeted a group of locals, Gaza-based health authorities said in a statement.

The Israeli military claimed in its own statement that its forces had identified several individuals engaging in "suspicious activities" near military positions in northern Gaza, alleging that they were attempting to plant an explosive device. The military added that the Israeli Air Force launched a strike to "eliminate the threat" and reaffirmed its commitment to neutralizing perceived dangers to Israeli forces and civilians.

Following the airstrikes, local sources and eyewitnesses reported the mass displacement of hundreds of families from eastern areas of Beit Hanoun.

In a separate incident, medical teams recovered the body of a woman and treated two wounded individuals after an Israeli bombardment targeted the town of Al-Farahin, east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, health officials confirmed.

Meanwhile, in Rafah, a young man was fatally shot by Israeli gunfire while standing on the roof of his home in the city center, according to Palestinian medical sources at Gaza's European Hospital in Khan Younis. The Israeli military has not commented on the incidents in Khan Younis and Rafah.

These developments come just a day after the expiration of the first phase of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, which was supposed to be followed by negotiations for a second phase.
