President Ram Chandra Paudel has emphasized that the most fitting tribute to the martyrs is to actively work towards fulfilling the nation's development and prosperity goals.

In his Martyrs Day message today, the President underscored that honoring the martyrs goes beyond remembrance, it involves striving for sustainable peace, good governance, and overall development, all of which are attainable through the federal democratic republic established thanks to their sacrifices.

President Paudel expressed his belief that Martyrs Day will inspire the people of Nepal to contribute sincerely to realizing the dreams of the martyrs while honoring their sacrifices.

"On Martyrs Day 2081 BS, I offer my heartfelt tribute to all known and unknown martyrs, including the great martyrs Shukraraj Shastri, Dharma Bhakta Mathema, Dashrath Chand, and Gangalal Shrestha, who gave their lives to secure civic freedom, democracy, and protect our nation," the President stated.

He reminded the nation that Martyrs Day is a significant occasion to remember the brave individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country, particularly during the democratic revolutions and movements against the Rana regime, the Panchayat system, and the monarchy, fighting for the sovereignty of the Nepali people.

“To lay down one’s life for the welfare of the nation and its people is the essence of martyrdom. Let this day motivate all political parties, the general public, and all concerned to dedicate their hearts, words, and actions to fulfilling the aspirations of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence of our nation and people,” President Paudel concluded.

Martyrs Day is observed annually on Magh 16, honoring those who gave their lives in the struggle for the country’s freedom and democracy.
