The Supreme Court has expressed significant concern over the unresolved problems faced by victims of fraudulent cooperatives, questioning the government on its plans to refund the victims’ money.
Senior advocate Surendra Bhandari, among others, had filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court, alleging the government’s inaction in addressing the troubles of cooperative victims.
During a hearing on Tuesday, the court summoned secretaries from various ministries to appear for a discussion on January 20, directing them to provide details on the implementation status of the parliamentary committee’s report on cooperative issues.
The joint bench of Justices Kumar Regmi and Nityananda Pandey issued the order to place the case on the hearing list for January 20, where further discussions with the government will take place.
