Home Minister Lekhak Warns Against Efforts to Influence Rabi Lamichhane Investigation
Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has stated that there are efforts to influence the investigation into Rabi Lamichhane’s involvement in the cooperative case.
Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has expressed concerns over alleged attempts to interfere with the ongoing investigation into Rabi Lamichhane's involvement in a cooperative case.
Addressing journalists in Surkhet on Tuesday, Minister Lekhak stated that some individuals were attempting to sway the investigation by exerting pressure on the district police and government attorney’s offices. “While the case is under review, such actions undermine the integrity of the judicial process,” he said.
He specifically accused Lamichhane and members of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) of taking steps to influence the proceedings. Minister Lekhak also dismissed allegations of mistreatment of Lamichhane by the police, categorically labeling them as false.
“The government is committed to upholding human rights for all individuals, including Lamichhane. The investigation is being conducted fairly and transparently,” he assured.
Minister Lekhak emphasized the importance of refraining from comments or actions that could interfere with the judicial process.
Prachanda’s Remarks Called “Unfortunate”
Responding to remarks made by Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, leader of the main opposition Maoist Center, who alleged that the government was acting vindictively in Lamichhane's case, Lekhak expressed disappointment.
“It is unfortunate for the leader of the opposition to make such claims,” he said. “Attempts to influence the investigation through rhetoric or gathering crowds are inappropriate and undermine the rule of law.”
Political Stability Reaffirmed
On a broader political note, Minister Lekhak reaffirmed the strong ties between the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML, asserting that the government remains stable and functional.
“There is no truth to the rumors about the government’s collapse. Relations between the coalition parties are cordial, and the government is committed to fulfilling its agreements,” he clarified.
Lekhak’s remarks come amid rising tensions over the high-profile investigation and growing political polarization. His statements underline the government’s resolve to ensure an impartial judicial process and maintain political stability in the country.
